How much does it cost to carpet 14 stairs?

Most Ottawa stair jobs run $45 to $180+ per stair for full stair carpet with underpad, so 14 stairs land between $630 and $2,520+. That covers the carpet, underpad and installation. The full Ottawa stair-cost guide has examples for 12, 14, and 16-step layouts. Runners are priced differently: installation labour is $15 to $35 per stair and the runner itself is priced separately, see custom stair runner pricing.

What changes the per-stair price:

• Standard box stairs (cheapest) vs open-side or pie-shaped winders (slowest)
• Wrapped (waterfall) vs upholstered (Hollywood) finish
• Whether the runner is full-width or a centre runner with stained wood borders
• Carpet grade and pattern matching at each riser
• Removing and disposing of the old stair carpet

Stairs are quoted separately from room sq ft because labour is the bigger cost. We confirm everything in the written quote.
